ReplyDeleteFantastic list for people to refer to. We visit Dr. Jagdish Chinappa for our kid's health issues. The choice of pediatrician was purely based on location (his Langford Road clinic is a 2 minute walk from home). As you have correctly mentioned - his diagnosis and handling is great, we can say from personal experience. We were very skeptical about the rudeness part, that we heard of online, but we found him to be pretty warm with our kid (to much of our relief). He answers every question you have (just ensure you have your queries ready). Many a times he trivializes your concerns in a very reassuring way indicating that you are worrying too much for no reason. This is very useful for newbie parents.
We have seen him spend long periods discussing with parents (sometimes to our irritation since we are awaiting our turn) at the Langford Road Clinic, while the one in Koramangala does seem more like a factory - quick turnaround times, which parents may not always like since they need to be comforted more by talking and reassuring rather than medicine alone.
Thought of sharing our first hand experience if someone would find it useful.

Hi! I wanted to share my experience with Dr Arvind Shenoi. I started going to him 6 years back with my one year old first born child. He has an accurate diagnosis and avoids heavy medication at all cost. He is a true healer. He used to operate from his clinic and I have seen him patiently examining kids as late as 11 pm. If there is a sick kid in his clinic, he will examine him very well whatever be the time.
ReplyDeleteNow I have started going to him with my 1.5 years old younger son as well. But the situation has changed dramatically. He has dissolved his clinic and now operates from Cloud 9. This place is such a money making machine. They are only interested in big surgery kind of cases and Dr Shenoi is normally blocked for the next 3-4 weeks. The earliest you can see him is next month and that doesnt help with a small kid. Anytime you go to the hospital, they want to direct the normal cases to the new doctors and will keep pushing you. Even if you are ready to wait, they will not allow you to see Dr Shenoi. I have tried multiple times and now have stopped even hoping that one day I will be able to show my child to Dr Shenoi.
I have had the same experience with Dr. Shenoi. Being a first time mom, I obviously had more questions and concerns. However, he just dismissed them as if they were trivial things. Cloud nine is just a money making machine now. Infact my baby girl was born with a tooth and it was really troubling her. I went to Dr. Shenoi and he did not even notice the big ulcer on her tongue. I had to bring it to his attention (and this was after he had done an oral examination). I will never visit him again.

ReplyDeleteI have been visiting Dr Sai Manohar Ullal for last 4 years (for both my sons). It takes me almost 90 mins to reach his clinic, but that hasnt persuaded me to find a local paediatrician, simply because of how well the Doctor handles both the kids as well as the parents and their anxieties. I hope he continues this way for a long time and does not get corporatized like some of the other successful doctors.

ReplyDeleteI consult Dr Manas Ranjan Das at the Diagnostic Den in Horamavu. He used to practice with Dr Arvind Shenoi at the perinatal clinic. He stayed back when Dr Shenoi moved over to cloud 9. Dr Das is a very patient man, listens intently to all your concerns, conservative with medicines.
My son is 3 yrs and 8 months now and I till date I go to him. I consulted Dr Shenoi right after my sons birth, just didnt work for me.
